Yes. Much of it is based on “reasonable” where “reasonable” is not defined. So, what’s a reasonable amount to spend when traveling overnight for business? Most other countries put a maximum number. Not the UK. Is eating at a Michelin star retaurant while away on business reasonable? It seems obviously no, but what if it’s the hotel’s restaurant and you had a Groupon discount and you had to be up at silly oclock the next morning so going further afield to get a cheaper meal wasn’t such a good idea? We can’t take the clients to McDonald’s. Nope, it’s difficult and arcane. Get help if you have a business of any sort.
