  2. The sound of the water drops pummeling the car roof and the cascade of water pouring down the windows was starting to concern Alfred.

  2. The pleasant sensation of sleep slowly drifted over Mark, but as his eyelids started to close the probing tone of the phone rang out and wrecked his rest. He leapt up from the deck chair and dashed through the back door, stubbing his big toe along the way, and hopping on one foot, he made his way to the phone.
